Joy vs Disappointment (non contingent) 

Do you find yourself disappointed too often? 

There are many options for being disappointed including: 

Society 

Ideals 

Identity 

Misunderstandings 

Career 

Resources 

Capacities 

Growth 

etc 

Set yourself up for SUCCESS! 

Don't set unrealistic expectations in your mind relating to: 

SELF 

OTHERS 

Find a source of JOY which is non-contingent on self/others like: 

Sunlight 

Vitamins 

Baths 

Nature 

Anyone who loves you un-conditionally 

Music 

Breeze 

Ocean 

etc 

Once you have picked a few sources of JOY, 

which can't be ruined by anyone or anything, 

set your mind on those... 

And make a BORDER keeping other stuff out. 

Then you'll have a consistent way of living which is non nearly as vulnerable to ups and downs....If you find that this WORKS over time, be CAREFUL and keep your borders! 

It is easy to get bored once you see that this way works, and to make exceptions. 

Exceptions are NOT controllable and therefore are not a good idea. 

If you need to treat yourself to a NEW FLAVOR, then try a new slant on one of your regular JOY items....OR make an exception which you CAN control and carefully weigh it prior.. 

OR decide to make an exception and then not care no matter what happens (by disclaiming the fallout whether good or bad in your mind and deciding neither outcome effects your LONGTERM JOY
